Nourish Your Roots – Co-Curated with ArtSpan
San Francisco Bay Area artists delve into the natural world to capture its beauty, its vulnerability, and its significance to humanity. Nourish Your Roots seeks to unravel our profound connection to the natural world.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
ON VIEW JANUARY – MAY 2024
Nourish Your Roots, co-curated with ArtSpan, is an original show that features 14 Bay Area artists exhibiting over 40 works, including ceramics, collage, photography, oil painting, print, collage and sculpture. This exhibition takes inspiration from the Jewish holiday of Tu Bishvat, often celebrated through environmental stewardship and the tradition of planting trees. Tu Bishvat is the last Jewish holiday of the winter, drawing our attention to the faintest first signs of spring. Being attuned to the changes in our world – those happening within nature, our bodies, and our own minds – is fundamental to the Jewish experience. Expanding upon these customs, artists were asked to explore the interconnectedness of communities, how we nurture ourselves, personal lineage, climate justice and translating the ancient into modern.
All artwork is by local artists and available for purchase easily through ArtSpan’s online gallery.
