Aging Alone Together by DOROT: Take Charge

The JCCSF is honored to collaborate with DOROT, a game-changing non-profit based in NYC, to present this incredible opportunity for learning. DOROT’s Aging Alone Together is designed to empower solo agers to build community while exploring tools, strategies and support to age successfully.

What’s a solo ager? We define ‘solo ager’ broadly: Solo agers are individuals who, by choice or circumstance, expect to age or make decisions about their future independently. Aging Alone Together provides a framework and tools for engaging with the experience of solo aging. Together with DOROT, we aim to create a supportive, positive space for discussion, self-reflection, and learning. Whether you are living or feeling alone, aging without family support, or seeking meaningful connections, we welcome you!

Just so you know: The registration link will take you to DOROT’s website to register. You only need to register once for all six sessions beginning on January 7 lasting through February 11. 

DOROT’s got three mantras: It is never too early; it is never too late. You are not alone. Take charge of your aging or it will take charge of you.

This program will be hosted by trained facilitators and DOROT staff. Shiva Schulz, JCCSF Director of Lifelong Learning, will represent the JCCSF at each session.

DOROT is a New York City-based non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults by fostering meaningful connections and combatting social isolation. Through a variety of free virtual and in-person programs – such as friendly visiting, wellness workshops, and educational series – DOROT builds supportive and enriching communities to promote aging with dignity.
