The Everly Brothers: Rock’s Greatest Harmonizing Duo

The Everly Brothers at the pinnacle of their musical career were a fusion of perfect musicality, feeling, clean good looks and rhythmic guitar playing.

Don and Phil Everly were among the greatest early rock stars, with vocal harmonies that influenced the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel, among many others. Rock historian and author Richie Unterberger presents a wealth of film clips of the duo from their peak years, the 50’s and 60’s. This program will feature hits such as “Bye Bye Love,” “Bird Dog,” “All I Have to Do Is Dream,” “Cathy’s Clown,” and others, and will review the pioneering duo’s monumental historical importance and legacy. 

Rock historian Richie Unterberger is the author of numerous rock history books, including volumes on the Beatles, the Who, the Velvet Underground, Bob Marley, and 1960s folk-rock. He teaches courses on rock and soul music history at several Bay Area colleges. His latest book, San Francisco: Portrait of a City, was published by Taschen in 2022.
