Originally from San Diego, Karyn moved to San Francisco to attend SFSU, where she obtained her BA in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis on Special Education. Karyn worked within Special Day classes for the Daly City Elementary School Districts for over 10 years. After having her daughter, Karyn chose to start working within preschools, and eventually found her way to Helen Diller Family Preschool. Karyn and her family fell in love with the JCCSF community and dedicated staff.

Karyn started teaching at Diller in 2019, becoming the Assistant Site Director in 2023. She loves helping families and children navigate new and often challenging stages of life, and has presented on such topics around the Bay Area. You can often find Karyn (coffee in hand) at the JCCSF with her daughter, who despite graduating preschool in 2021, is always participating in something!
