

JCCSF Goes Greener
In addition to a number of established green practices, the JCCSF continues to make strides toward greater environmental responsibility. Now the Fitness Center is even greener:
- Added 30 water-saving shower heads in locker rooms
- Switched to biodegradable bags for spa products
- Transitioned to recycled paper cups
- 100% paraben and sulfate free locker room amenities
- Organic and paraben free spa products
- Eco-friendly laundry detergent
JCCSF green practices include:
- Energy Management System for our HVAC and lighting systems that reduce energy consumption
- A number of paperless administrative systems
- Participation in employee notification "Spare the Air" program
- Commuter benefits for staff public transit use
- Promoting "Bike to Work" days
To become greener, the JCCSF has also:
- Installed nine automatic faucets
- Added compost receptacles and increased recycling capacity
- Re-purposed used printed paper into notepads
- Provided staff with permanent dishware, utensils and water pitchers (an alternative to
bottled water) - Replaced non-dimming incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents
- Installed eco-friendly air fresheners
- Partnered with Hazon's national Jewish CSA program, Tuv Ha-Aretz, to make organic, locally farmed, fruits and vegetables more easily accessible for the JCCSF community
The JCCSF uses green products rated with a high percentage of recycled content which are both green seal certified and sourced from companies using environmentally sound production methods. Our green products include:
- 100% recycled copy paper
- Recycled office paper products
- Recycled trash liners
- Disposable dishware (made from sugar cane)
- Cleaning products
